Valentine's Fun

As moms, it's very easy to be consumed in the spit-up, the diapers, the feedings, and trying to keep everything in our homes from feeling upside-down. :) This week let's make a special effort to honor & cherish the men in our lives who work hard to provide for us, care for us, and really, just want a smile & a hug from us sometimes!!
LivingPittsburgh.Com offers a Valentine's Plan right in our near-by Lawrenceville:
[Disclaimer: MOST of us will probably not be able to have an ENTIRE day away from the kiddos, but hopefully we will find a way to do something!]
Lawrenceville can be an incredible Valentine’s Day destination for those who love off-the-beaten-path dates!
We recommend you start off the day with a late morning Sunday brunch at Coca Cafe. Enjoy unique omelet selections like smoked salmon ($7.75), sun-dried tomato pesto ($7.25), or Four Cheese with Ham ($7.75), all served with grilled potatoes and fruit. Add a croissant for $1.25 if you’d like.
After brunch it’s time for some good ol’ fashioned BOWLING! Arsenal Bowling Lanes offers 50 cent Sundays from 1:00-4:00pm. For a $6 admission price, you get 50 cent shoe rental, games, soda and hot dogs!
After you’ve finished bowling to hearts content, it’s off for a hand-in-hand stroll down Butler Street for some window shopping. Stop in some of the great independent stores like Wild Card, where we’re pretty sure you’ll be able to score a very unique and affordable Valentine’s Day gift.
You’ll also want to hit Zombo Gallery, which features “hip lowbrow art” (as their website calls it), artwork that is rooted in 1950’s and 60’s pop culture and kitsch. Inside Zombo Gallery, you’ll also find some reasonably priced vintage men & women’s clothing, by Wear It Clothing Co.
The shops all begin to close around 5:00/6:00 on Sundays, which is perfect timing because now is when we send you off to your final destination spot
…Brillobox. Every Sunday Brillobox features a $5 starving artist vegetarian dinner at 6:00. Past meals have featured dishes like vegetarian lasagna and veggie stew. The evening also includes a special $3 craft brew and tunes off the juke box.
So there you have it…a little Lawrenceville lovin’ on the cheap. What a way to spend the day!
